5.1. Methodological overview

The learning and teaching methodology developed in the course is aimed to promote the attainment of its objectives. A wide range of teaching and learning activities is implemented, such as interactive lessons, practical exercises, individual or group activities, directed activities, field work and private study.

A high level of student participation will be required from all students throughout the course.

Extensive material will be available via the Moodle site of the course. This offers a variety of resources including a repository of the lecture notes used in class, a course syllabus as well as other forms of course-specific materials, including a discussion forum. 

5.2. Learning tasks

Lecture sessions: 20 hours

Interactive, individual or group activities: 28 hours

Directed activities: 40 hours

Field work : 4 hours

Laboratory sessions: 4 hours

Private study: 51hours

Assessment: 3 hours

5.3. Syllabus

The lecture course will address the following topics

Topic 1. Principles, objectives, instruments and frameworks of environmental education

Topic 2. Professional Training for the environmental education: profile and professional certification

Topic 3. Resources for the environmental education. Cartography, technologies of interpretation, documentation. Contributions from the Geography.

 

The interactive, individual or group activities will address the following topics

Activity 1. Orientation, identification and interpretation on the ground

Activity 2. The designing of environmental education projects.

Activity 3. The implementation of environmental education projects (field work in the Zaragoza area)

Activity 4. Two visits to current environmental education projects

5.4. Course planning and calendar

The course is divided into 3 thematic blocks. The first block includes the topic 1 and runs during the first two weeks of the semester. The second thematic block includes the topic 2 and runs during the following three weeks. The third block covers the topic 3 and develops during the final 4 months of the course.
